At Yieldstreet, a $2B+ alternative investments democratization platform, rapid expansion across asset classes like private debt, private credit, insurance, litigation finance, real estate, venture capital, and art led to data silos, inconsistent reporting, compliance vulnerabilities, and inefficiencies in investor onboarding and fund lifecycle management. With 12 direct reports across four teams (Investment Operations, Investor Operations, Treasury/Banking, and Fund Accounting), the lack of integrated systems hindered scalability, risked SEC/AML/KYC non-compliance, and impacted investor experience, potentially limiting the firm’s growth in retail-ization of alternatives.

What Our CXO Services Delivered

Applying EOS methodology, I began with a focused V/TO alignment session with the leadership team to define the Core Focus on “democratizing access to high-yield alternatives” and set Rocks like “Integrate core platforms within Q1” and “Standardize data governance by Q2.” As Integrator, I facilitated IDS sessions in Level 10 Meetings to resolve integration blockers, such as data discrepancies between front-end investor portals and back-office accounting.

For the Process Component, I mapped out six core processes (e.g., investor due diligence, capital calls/distributions, NAV reviews, carried interest modeling) and redesigned them for automation. I project-managed the integration of Salesforce CRM, Snowflake data warehouse, and Looker Studio for visualization/reporting, creating dashboards for PCAP statements and real-time analytics.

The Data Component was strengthened by establishing a centralized governance framework with audit trails and compliance checks, using tools like Zapier for automated workflows. In the People Component, I assigned clear accountabilities via the Accountability Chart, cross-trained team members on new systems, and tracked progress through a weekly Scorecard with measurables like data accuracy rates and onboarding cycle times. Regulatory alignment was ensured by embedding SEC/AML/KYC protocols into each process step.
